Sifu Eric Chirlin (莊力亞)

Head Instructor

Sifu Eric Chirlin began studying Wan Kam Leung Practical Wing Chun under Sifu William Kwok in New York City beginning 2011. Sifu Chirlin found an immediate appreciation for the simplicity and depth of Practical Wing Chun and its concepts, and for the focus on traditional Chinese and martial arts culture that Sifu Kwok encourages in his students.

In 2012, Sifu Chirlin joined Sifu Kwok’s specialized Instructor Training Program, designed to provide experienced students with in-depth educational training including curriculum design, motor learning, and teaching methods, as well as a deeper understanding of Practical Wing Chun. Since then, Sifu Chirlin has traveled to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Hong Kong to train personally with his Sigung, Grandmaster Wan Kam Leung, and to assist Grandmaster Wan and Sifu Kwok in conducting seminars for martial arts enthusiasts from all over the world. Sifu Chirlin became a second-generation inner disciple to William Kwok in a traditional Bai Si ceremony in May 2017.

Sifu Eric Chirlin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and studied at Queen Mary University of London in 2010. As a New Jersey native, resident of Jersey City, and professional in New York City, he aims to use the teaching of Practical Wing Chun in Jersey City to share his understanding of eastern and western culture and philosophy, and ultimately help practitioners find balance in a fast-paced and disharmonious environment.
